Results of the Phase 1 - Competition - 11/11/2024

Competition phase of the first cut-off stage is now closed and we have gathered submissions from student, academic and industry teams from 10 countries. Submissions are evaluated and the results of the best performing teams are given below, with individual RMSSE metrics, overall average and final score. We would like to thank everyone for their participation and valuable contributions! The competition will return soon with the new cut-off stage.

Climate change has been a worldwide concern for more than 50 years now and climate change misinformation has also been a critical issue as it questions the causes and effects of climate change, hence disturbing climate action. Climate misinformation has been a major obstacle to mitigating climate change and its effects, and it even aggravated the issue and polarized the public. In this paper, we introduce a new climate change misinformation and stance detection dataset namely ClimateMiSt, consisting of both social media data and news article data with manually verified labels.

As the harmful effects of climate change on human society increase, the analysis of abnormal weather is becoming an important issue. Therefore, this work provides the Korean weather dataset, including the anomaly score measurements by using seven different methods. In this dataset, seven types of weather data for each day in 64 Korean cities from 2010 to 2020 are provided by Weather Radar Center in Korea Meteorological Administration.
