Abstract 

The Army Cyber Institute (ACI) Internet of Things (IoT) Network Traffic Dataset 2023 (ACI-IoT-2023) is a novel dataset tailored for machine learning (ML) applications in the realm of IoT network security. This effort focuses on delivering a distinctive and realistic dataset designed to train and evaluate ML models for IoT network environments. By addressing a gap in existing resources, this dataset aims to propel advancements in ML-based solutions, ultimately fortifying the security of IoT operations.

Dataset Structure Overview:

The dataset (ACI-IoT-2023.tar) is organized hierarchically to facilitate easy access and retrieval of information. It can be opened by running the following command in a linux terminal: "tar -xvzf ACI-IoT-2023.tar.gz"

Below is a breakdown of the structure:

Days 1-5:

The dataset is organized into folders corresponding to each day of observation.

Attack Categories:

Within each day folder, there are sub-folders representing different general attack categories.

Specific Attacks:

Inside each general attack category folder, you will find sub-folders dedicated to specific attacks executed.

Data Files:

Finally, within each specific attack folder, there are two types of data files provided:

  • Pcap (Packet Capture) Files: These files capture network traffic during the specific attack scenario.
  • CSV (Comma-Separated Values) Files: These files contain extracted features relevant to the attack scenario.
