Abstract

Animal detection is an active research topic in recent years. Horse’s face detection is an important task in the world and in order to promote horse’s detection and recognition research, the REGIM-Lab.: REsearch Groups in Intelligent Machines, ENIS, University of Sfax, Tunisia will provide the Tunisian Horse Detection Database (THDD) freely of charge to mainly horses’ face detection researchers and to increase total of researches done to enhance animal detection.

Our THDD includes a set of horse images divided into two parts. The collected data of the first part consists of 13937 cropped positive and negative images for horse face classification. The collected data of the second part  includes 1103 annotated images for horse face detection. The digital images were taken at different distances ranging from 1 to 2 meter from horses. The capture was performed by a video camera. Two digital cameras were used. The first is of 10.1 Mega Pixels and at a resolution of 640 * 480 pixels, whereas the second is of 15 Mega Pixels and at a resolution of 12080 * 720 pixels.

All documents and papers that uses the Tunisian Horse Detection Database (THDD Database) will acknowledge the use of the database by including an appropriate citation to the following:
