Abstract

This dataset contains human motion data collected using inertial measurement units (IMUs), including accelerometer and gyroscope readings, from participants performing specific activities. The data was gathered under controlled conditions with verbal informed consent and includes diverse motion patterns that can be used for research in human activity recognition, wearable sensor applications, and machine learning algorithm development. Each sample is labeled and processed to ensure consistency, with raw and augmented data available for use.

Instructions:

This dataset contains motion data collected from participants using inertial measurement units (IMUs), including accelerometer and gyroscope sensors. The data represents Turkish Sign Language (TSL) gestures performed by multiple participants under controlled conditions. Each gesture corresponds to a specific word or phrase in TSL, captured in various repetitions and postures (standing and seated).

The dataset is organized into folders as follows:

  • /non_augmented_data/: Contains unprocessed IMU sensor data files in .txt format.
  • /augmented_data/: Includes data variations created through augmentation techniques (e.g., noise reduction and Gaussian filters).

3. Data File Format

Each .txt file in the dataset contains:

  • Columns:
    • Accel_X, Accel_Y, Accel_Z: Accelerometer readings on X, Y, and Z axes.
    • Gyro_X, Gyro_Y, Gyro_Z: Gyroscope readings on X, Y, and Z axes.
  • Rows: Each row represents a single time sample.

File Name Format For Non-Augmented Data : ”{PersonName}_{standing or sitting}_{the word}_{sensor type}.txt”

File Name Format For Augmented Data : "{the word}_{related index}"
