5G dataset
This dataset consists of network packet traces collected in 2023 on the 5G infrastructure deployed at Chalmers University of Technology.
The dataset includes 1,912 pcap files, distributed across 8 folders. Each pcap file captures 1 minute of encrypted network traffic generated by one of the following 8 popular mobile applications:

The softwarization and virtualization of the fifth-generation (5G) cellular networks bring about increased flexibility and faster deployment of new services. However, these advancements also introduce new vulnerabilities and unprecedented attack surfaces. The cloud-native nature of 5G networks mandates detecting and protecting against threats and intrusions in the cloud systems.

This 5G dataset that can be used to advance research in attack detection in 5G service based architecture was generated using the open-source Free5GC testbed and UERANSIM, a UE/RAN simulator. The dataset include benign traffic featuring 5G procedures (e.g., registration, deregistration, PDU session establishment/release, uplink, downlink) along with 6 different HTTP/2 attack simulated between different 5G network functions. including:

5G Network slicing is one of the key enabling technologies that offer dedicated logical resources to different applications on the same physical network. However, a Denial-of-Service (DoS) or Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack can severely damage the performance and functionality of network slices. Furthermore, recent DoS/DDoS attack detection techniques are based on the available data sets which are collected from simulated 5G networks rather than from 5G network slices.
