Abstract
Gorakhpur is a city located in the north-eastern region of
Uttar Pradesh state of India. It is a sub-part of Purvanchal
region of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. In the south-western
part, Gorakhpur periphery spreads along Rapti river. In
the north-western region, Gorakhpur shares its periphery
with Chillua Tal. In the southern part, Ramgarh Tal with a
perimeter of 18 km is located.
Water Bodies:
+ Ramgarh Tal is a historically important heritage site and
is also a tourist attraction; spread over 700 hectares of
area.
+ Chillua Tal is a wetland located in the north-western
part of Gorakhpur. Currently, It is undergoing
beautification work.
* Rapti River falls under Gange River system that
originates from Nepal and debouches into Ghagara
river.
+ Sumer Sagar is another wetland in Gorakhpur.
Railway and Bus Ser
Gorakhpur city railway station and Gorakhpur
Cantonment railway station are the two public rail
transport amenities in Gorakhpur while Kachari bus stand
and Roadways bus stand are the two road transport
amenities.

located which is being used as a civil enclave for public air
transportation.
