Abstract

This dataset has been compiled using publicly available data about the substation loads, generation capacities, transmission line lengths and voltages of the Bangladesh Power Grid, incorporating typical electrical parameters for power factor, transmission line impedance, generator impedances etc. It is tailored for power flow studies as a test case within the PSSE software. However, the dataset can be easily converted to a format compatible with alternative power system analysis software.

Notably, this dataset deliberately omits any geographical data or specific substation names, thereby ensuring the protection of sensitive information regarding the Bangladesh Power Grid. Nevertheless, it remains highly representative of the actual power grid of Bangladesh and is well-suited for research purposes.

Ongoing work will expand upon this dataset by creating synthetic dynamic models, thereby providing a comprehensive test case for transient studies and enhancing its usability for broader research objectives.

Instructions:
  1. Unzip the bd_power_grid.zip file.
  2. Change the bd_power_grid.txt file’s extension from .txt to .raw.
  3. Run the bd_power_grid.raw file in PSSE or convert it to a format compatible with alternative power system analysis software.
