Abstract
This data set consists of 3-phase currents of faults and other transient cases for transmission lines connected with PV Farms. PSCAD/EMTDC software is used for the simulation of faults and other transients. Transmission lines connected to photovoltaic (PV) farm protection is crucial for ensuring reliable and safe operation. PV farms generate electricity from sunlight and feed it into the grid via transmission lines. However, factors such as fluctuations in solar irradiance, system faults, and grid instability can lead to voltage and current imbalances. Protection measures are designed to mitigate potential risks and disturbances that could affect the transmission lines and the overall grid. They may involve a combination of distance protection, overcurrent protection, differential protection, and fault detection mechanisms. The dataset can be used to design and test protection algorithms.
There are 13 folders. The files are in ”.txt” format. Each file has 3 columns for a, b, and c phase currents obtained at CT (Fig. 1).
Tables I and II show the variables and values for faults and other transients for the PV farm in IEEE 9-bus system.
Each text file has 1766 rows. Each cycle equals 128 rows (16.67ms is one cycle). The faults and transients occur at 9.0 secs (row no. 767) from the start of each simulation case for faults and transients.
The files contain data from 8.9 to 9.13 seconds which is a duration of 0.23 seconds, with the first row corresponding to 8.9 seconds and the last row to 9.13 seconds.
The first two folders can be used for fault detection with the first having fault data and the second having transient data (load and capacitor switching).
The 3 last folders “fault and transients 20db noise”, "fault and transients 30db noise", and "fault and transients 40db noise" have (2880 + 2400) files with 20dB, 30dB, and 40 dB noise each.
