Abstract
The dataset contains pressure insole data from twenty subjects who performed five tasks, comprising of two common daily activities (standing and walking), and three industry-focussed tasks (manual handling, assembly and pick and place). The speed and order in which a given task was completed was not prescribed. The data pertains to the areas of human factors, ergonomics and occupational health and safety research, among others, and enables an understanding of the force distributions involved in common tasks as well as physical and manufacturing type tasks.

Sensing Technologies
Three sensor loadsol® pressure insoles with a 19cm connector strap were used for data collection; sensors are located on the heel, midfoot and forefoot of the insoles, occupying 30%, 30% and 40% of the insole length respectively. The sample rate is 100Hz. There was a choice of three sizes (European size 39, 43, 45) for participants.
File naming conventions
Each file contains the pressure data of all tasks for one participant, hence file names are the subject number, for example the file named ‘Sub01’ contains all task data for the first subject.
For each insole, force data from the heel, midfoot and forefoot sensors are included, as well as the total force of the foot, which is the sum of all three sensors. See the below table for abbreviations of the sensor data.
Description | Label |
Lh | Left Heel |
Lm | Left Midfoot |
Lf | Left Forefoot |
L | Left Foot Total |
Rh | Right Heel |
Rm | Right Midfoot |
Rf | Right Forefoot |
R | Right Foot Total |
