Abstract

The widespread use of information technology in several facets of contemporary life has resulted in the consideration of vehicles as conceptual objects in information systems. The primary requirements in traffic monitoring and control are automated toll collection, vehicle detection, and automatic number plate detection and recognition. An informative dataset on Indian vehicles is necessary to accomplish this in Indian region. This article presents a collection of 383 raw and annotated images of Indian vehicles in different illumination conditions using Infrared Day/Night Camera. The dataset resembles the Indian highway toll collection plazas. The dataset will be useful in developing intelligent models for applications such as automated toll collection, number plate detection and recognition, driverless vehicles, suspicious vehicle traction, and traffic management.

Instructions:

The raw Indian vehicle dataset contains 383 images, which are available as a supplementary file with this article. The JSON code of annotated images is also available with supplementary file. The dataset includes 213 lorry images with different structures such as 6-wheel, 8 wheel, and 10 wheels, 56 bus images (private and government bus images), 54 car images, 38 small truck images, 20 multi axle lorry images, and one 17-seater cab image.
