Abstract

This dataset contains a list of Australian government domains (dedicated to the general population and indigenous people of Australia) collected through our research. We queried these domains to retrieve their NS records (labeled as NS_LVL1) and identified the DNS provider companies using Whois. Subsequently, we queried the NS_LVL1 domains to obtain their name servers (labeled as NS_LVL2) and determined their provider names. Using the list of DNS providers in Australia, we then used IP location to find the geolocation of these DNS providers.

Overview

This dataset contains information on Australian government domains, including their NS records and the geolocation of their DNS providers. The dataset is divided into several CSV files, each with a specific focus. Below are the descriptions of each file and instructions on how to use them.

Usage Instructions

1. General Domains Analysis:

      - Use gov_d_ipd_nslvl1_ipnslvl2_gen.csv for analyzing the hierarchical NS records for general domains and their dorect and indirect providers.

      - Cross-reference with gov_ipnslvl2_gen-ip2location.csv and gov_ipnslvl1_gen-ip2location.csv for geolocation data.

2. Indigenous Domains Analysis:

      - Use gov_d_ipd_nslvl1_ipnslvl2_indi.csv for analyzing the hierarchical NS records for indigenous domains and their direct and indirect providers.

      - Cross-reference with gov_ipnslvl2_indi-ip2location.csv and gov_ipnslvl1_indi-ip2location.csv for geolocation data.

3. Geolocation Data:

      - For geolocation analysis of DNS providers, use the IP location files (*_ip2location.csv).
