Abstract

In this study, we collected EEG and EMG data from 16 subjects during the MI process and constructed a homemade MI-hBCI dataset. The participants included 10 males (mean age: 22.3±3.1 years) and 6 females (mean age: 22.1±2.4 years). All the subjects were right-handed, had normal vision, and had no motor impairment; all the participants signed a consent form and were informed of the experimental procedure and precautions before the experiment.

The MI-hBCI dataset contains three categories of MI movements: left-handed movements, right-handed movements, and the resting state. We conducted 30 10-second MI experiments with each subject for a total of 420 sessions. The specific experimental procedure is shown in Fig. 3. Among the outputs, the EEGs were based on the international 10-20 system [49], which consists of 32 channels with a sampling frequency of 500 Hz; four EMG electrodes were located in the left biceps brachii, left triceps brachii, right biceps brachii, and right triceps brachii, with a sampling frequency of 500 Hz.

Participant demographics:

A total of 16 participants were included, consisting of 10 males (mean age: 22.3±3.1 years) and 6 females (mean age: 22.1±2.4 years). All the subjects were right-handed, had normal vision, and had no motor impairment; all the participants signed a consent form and were informed of the experimental procedure and precautions before the experiment. All participants signed an informed consent before participating in the study in accordance with the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki.

Experiment Description:

The MI-hBCI dataset contains three categories of MI movements: left-handed movements, right-handed movements, and the resting state. We conducted 30 10-second MI experiments with each subject for a total of 420 sessions.

Equipment:

EEG data collection was collected using the NeuSen NSW364 wireless EEG recording system manufactured by China Boruikang Company. The number of channels is 32ch, Sampling rate up to 16kHz, The number of AD conversion bits is 24bit, Noise:<0.4μVrms, The input range ±375mVpp, Event synchronization accuracy≤1ms, Input impedance≥1GΩ.

EMG data collection adopts the wireless sEMG acquisition system independently developed by Boruikang.Number of leads is 4, Sample rate is 500Hz, Input impedance >1GOhm, The number of AD conversion bits is 24 bits, Input noise <0.7uVpp, Signal range ±300mV.

Channel Indices:

EEG: 1-32
EMG Left: 33、34
EMG Right: 35、36
