Abstract

All three datasets are in CSV file format and contain renewable energy and load demand data from August 1, 2024 to August 30, 2024. The dataset is sourced from California ISO and is stored through an open-source repository https://github.com/gridstatus/gridstatus. Renewable energy sources include wind and solar energy, and the load demand is based on data from the Trinity Public Utility District (TIDC) and the Trook Irrigation District (TPWR). The key data in the dataset are: the "MW" column represents power measured in megawatts, "OPR_DT" represents the operation date in YYYY-MM-DD format, and "OPR_HR" represents the 24 hours within a day (1-24). The datasets provide high-resolution temporal information on renewable energy generation and variations in load demand, which are valuable for analyzing grid stability and demand forecasting in electrical grid system.

Instructions:

This dataset consists of three CSV files containing renewable energy and load demand data from California ISO, covering August 1-30, 2024, sourced via the GridStatus repository (https://github.com/gridstatus/gridstatus). The files include wind energy generation, solar energy generation, and load demand from Trinity Public Utility District (TIDC) and Trook Irrigation District (TPWR). Key fields in the data dictionary are: "MW" (power in megawatts), "OPR_DT" (operation date in YYYY-MM-DD format), and "OPR_HR" (hour of day, 1-24). Each CSV is structured with rows representing hourly recordings across the 30-day period. For analysis, users can load the data using Python with pandas (df = pd.read_csv('filename.csv')).
