Abstract
A method of broadening frequency bandwidth and improving sensitivity of a Fabry-Pérot (F-P) geophone is proposed, and the corresponding high-performance device is designed and demonstrated experimentally. The theoretical model of F-P geophone based on wavelength demodulation is established thoughtfully, and while the sensitivity is effectively improved, the frequency band can be effectively extended under the determined higher resonance frequency, and the cross-sensitivity can be suppressed. Based on this design idea, the structure of the F-P cavity geophone filled with sensitizing medium is cleverly designed. The corresponding geophone is fabricated.
According to the mechanism based on F-P cavity, the sensitivity of the geophone is effectively improved by filling the optical medium with a large refractive index, and the frequency band of the flat region is broadened, while the resonant frequency of the detector is unchanged. The corresponding device has been carefully designed, and the experimental results prove the proposed concept, and the technology can effectively broaden the frequency band and improve the sensitivity while ensuring that the resonant frequency does not decrease. So the F-P geophone with this feature has perfect response characteristics.
