Abstract

This dataset is obtained during operation of a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser available at the Research Centre on Technology, Energy and Sustainability (CITES), University of Huelva, Spain. The electrolyser is water cooled and has 6 cells which all together can produce 40 bar of hydrogen gas at a maximum rate of 2.22 Nm3 /h when supplied with current of 900A. The cell diameter is 352.44 mm and current density range is 300–3000 mA/cm2. The electrolyser has sensors attached within the unit that measure various process data. During operation, electric current supplied to the electrolyser was increased from 100A up to 900A and various measurements were recorded to buid the dataset.

Instructions:

In the dataset, the first column is labelled as the index which is the timestep corresponding to each minute of sensor data logged. The remaining columns of the data set contain sensor data and can be identified as follows: The column labelled TT105 is the temperature measurement of the cooling water that is recirculating within the electrolyser's balance of plant (BoP) while the column labelled TT121 represent the hydrogen temperature at the outlet of the electrolyser. Furthermore, the column with name PT112, contains the pressure measurements of hydrogen gas produced. The voltage and current passing through the terminals of the electrolyser stack are measured by the sensors labelled V and I respectively. Finally, the column labelled Vcell, represents the voltage of each cell.
