Abstract
Ripe and unripe pistachios lies in their appearance, taste, and texture, as well as their uses. Ripe Pistachio: The kernel inside is vibrant green with purple skin, larger, and fully developed. More aromatic and flavorful than unripe pistachios. Widely used in desserts (ice creams, baklava, pastries) and savory dishes. Unripe Pistachio: The nut kernel is smaller and pale green or yellowish. Less sweet and not as flavorful as ripe pistachios. Sometimes used in specialty cuisines, pickling, or as a garnish. This dataset contains 966 images for ripe and 966 images for unripe classes. The images are originally, generated from an industrial setup.
There are two classes in the dataset, ripe and unripe pistachios. There are 966 images in each class. The images were obtained from an industrial setup. While the pistachios were falling freely from the chute, they were captured with a global shutter camera. Since the images were captured while falling, images were obtained from many different angles while the pistachios were spinning in the air. The pistachios were recorded with their original dimensions in the image. You can train and test different CNN architectures using this dataset. Since it is an easy two-class problem, if you want to optimize the parameters of the CNN architectures, you can train at low epochs using the dataset. In this way, you can get faster results instead of training with very high epochs with large data.
