Abstract

Online material 1 for the article: Towards a Clinical Implementation of Measuring the Elastic Modulus of the Aorta from Cardiac Computed Tomography Images

Instructions:

Online Material 1 is a plugin software*, AortoElasticity, to calculate the segment elastic modulus of a tubular structure in CT images scanned over a pulsatile cycle. The core calculation module is based on the formulae provided in the article. This online material contains the source code of the software as well.

*The software is a plugin of OsiriX MD, a DICOM viewer for macOS.

Requirements

To use the plugin:

  • Intel-based mac computer with macOS 10.15
  • OsiriX MD* 11.0, a DICOM viewer (Pixmeo SARL, Geneva, Swiss)  *You may use OsiriX Lite (a free version)

To use the source code:

  • Mac computers
  • Xcode, an integrated software development environment

Additional Information

AortoElasticity in this online material is the special edition made for IEEE journal submission. The calculation process is fixed only for a silicone rubber tube used in the article. AortoElasticity plugin for clinical cases will be released by the author in the near future. The clinical version calculates the segment elastic modulus and other mechanical properties of the aorta using ECG-gated contrasted CT images of the patient.
