Abstract 

This study is based on the analysis of the current state and main trends in the design, synthesis and application of various transparent electrodes, including transparent conductive semiconductor oxides, metal ultrathin films, partially filled structures and multilayer oxide/metal/oxide structures. In particular, the applicability limits of each type of transparent electrodes are determined and it is shown that the most suitable type of transparent electrodes for cathodes in OLEDs with a transparent top cathode are metal structures deposited using preliminary layers, as well as oxide/metal/oxide structures. The main patterns of the influence of the configuration, materials and synthesis parameters of the structures on their resulting microstructural properties are established.
