Abstract
The dataset used in this study is a comprehensive, publicly available dataset designed for research purposes, encompassing various features related to the public sector. It includes data on all genders (male and female) from diverse regions, age groups, and educational levels. The dataset was sourced from CAPMAS reports (2018-2023), which provide quarterly updates on the labor force, including details on unemployment assessments categorized by geographical distribution. This research specifically focuses on the labor force survey bulletin from CAPMAS covering the period from the fourth quarter (October–November–December) of 2018 to the second quarter of 2023.
To account for seasonal variations in unemployment, the dataset is organized into four quarterly cycles: January–March, April–June, July–September, and October–December. CAPMAS reports also include data on individuals under 6 years of age, those 65 and older who are not engaged in work or seeking employment, and those who are completely disabled—categories classified as part of the economically inactive population.
This study utilizes data that reflects the characteristics of the Egyptian civilian labor force and examines the extent of unemployment across various geographical regions within the country, taking into account factors such as gender, age, and educational background.
